Diigo

What is Diigo?

Diigo (Digest of Internet Information, Groups and Other stuff) is a tool that allows us to bookmark and tag web pages for future occasions. Besides, we can highlight part of the text from the webpages and write some sticky notes for specific webpages. These can be shared with other users that are signed up in Diigo" or sent for others via link.

My personal Diigo: https://www.diigo.com/user/soniachzh

Extra Activity: Create your own account with Diigo and make annotations in different documents or webpages. Then give the links to your own personal Diigo to see if you know how to use it.

Feel free to post the links below, in the comment section.

A questionnaire about ICTs: Educational videogames and simulators for learning English

This questionnaire is made to see if students think that they can learn English with videogames and what habits do they have.

Instructions: Please fill this questionnaire. We will comment on your habits next week.

Using Voki

What is Voki?

Voki is an outstanding tool that allows us to make speaking characters and then we can use it in our own blogs and webpages. They are good since they engage students, introduce technology in the classroom and enhances the learning of a second language.

Take a look at: http://www.voki.com/

Homework:
  • Create your own Voki.
Instructions:
  • Summarise what we have seen in class today (vocabulary or grammar).
  • Go through different accents and use the US accent for one Voki.
  • Make another Voki with your own voice.
  • Use different characters and backgrounds.
Evaluation

We will assess the Voki activity with:
  • 25 %: Voki with a US accent.
  • 25 %: Voki with your own voice.
  • 15 %: Use of different characters.
  • 15 %: Use of different backgrounds.
  • 20 %: Summarising properly the vocabulary or grammar.

You have one of my examples here:

Hope you enjoy the activity!
